What to Expect at Worship?

If it's your first time visiting Beautiful Savior for church, we welcome you as our guest.

We know stepping into a church for the first time can be intimidating. We hope these questions and answers are helpful to you as you consider attending our church.

If you have a question that is not addressed below, please get in touch with us: office@beautifulsavior.org

We hope to see you in worship soon!

What are the services like?

Worship at Beautiful Savior is liturgical worship; that is, it follows a pattern of worship - the liturgy - used in the Christian Church for almost 2,000 years. Sermons, readings from the Bible, hymns, and prayers focus on the words and works of Jesus as they are arranged in the Christian Church Year. This means that we observe seasons such as Advent, Epiphany, Lent, and Easter.

All the services are printed in the service folder so worshipers can follow along easily. If you arrive late, ushers will assist you in finding a seat - and it won't be in the front row!

Our services are also available online.

When are your services?

We gather to worship in person on Sunday at 9:00 am

Our address is 8051 EP True Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA 50266

Services are also streamed live and archived on YouTube

What happens when I get there?

When you come through our doors you'll be in our fellowship area. Our members and our guests visit before entering the sanctuary for worship.  In this area you will be handed a worship folder and find other information concerning the church.

Feel free to sit wherever you'd like, whether the front or the back. If you need assistance an usher will help you.

Are my children welcome at worship?

Kids of all ages are welcome at Beautiful Savior. We encourage kids and their parents to grow in faith together as they hear God's word and sing his praise.

Adjacent to the sanctuary, there is a "cry room" if you feel that you need to step out for a minute. The room does have a window  and speaker to let you see and hear the worship service.

Children's worship folders with activities pertaining to the Scripture lessons for the day are available

What should I wear?

We welcome those who dress more formally and those who prefer casual clothing. What you wear isn’t nearly as important as you being here…so come as you are!

Where can I park?

Parking is available in the lot in front of the church.

Our lot is accessible from both EP True Pkwy and 81st St.

Do you have Sunday School?

We provide Sunday School for ages 3 through 8th grade, and Bible Class for the adults at 10:15 am following a short fellowship time.

Do I need to give an offering?

The members of Beautiful Savior have joined together to do the Lord’s work in our community and around the world, and our offerings are a joyful response of our faith. As a visitor to our church, you are welcome but not obligated to give an offering.

What about communion?

Holy Communion is offered on the second and last Sundays of the month. We believe that gathering together at God's altar to receive Holy Communion is a testimony of the confession and commitment we share as members of the Lutheran Church. We ask guests who are not members of our denomination to speak with the pastor before partaking in Holy Communion so that all may have a clear understanding of our faith and practice.

"The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a communion of the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a communion of the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one bread." 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 (EHV)

"Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the Lord’s body and blood. Instead, let a person examine himself and after doing so, let him eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For if anyone eats and drinks in an unworthy way because he does not recognize the Lord’s body, he eats and drinks judgment on himself. Because of this, many among you are weak and sick, and quite a few have fallen asleep. But if we judged ourselves, we would not be undergoing judgment."
1 Corinthians 11:27-31 (EHV)
